My partner got assaulted on my street and the police dismissed us. I am scared for the safety of my family.

I live in Ontario. My partner and I were walking my dog a few streets down from the street I live on, and noticed a device that emits this high frequency and it annoyed us. My partner made a stupid joke saying, "I should kick that thing over," and the owner of the house happened to be behind the fence, and he said threateningly, "Don't do it, asshole." My boyfriend kept it playful while the man kept making threats to my partner. Few minutes later, we walked to my street, then we noticed a car following us. Turns out the man and his wife followed us to my street then started fimling us. I called them names, and they kept threatening us. My partner made another stupid joke, then the man held my partner in a chokehold, then started kneeing him and punching him in the face. Conveniently, the wife turned the camera off. I tried to get him off my partner and ended up kicking him. I screamed for someone to call the cops, but no one did anything, and the neighbours were just watching me kick the man. They only saw me kick the man, but not the headlock and the hitting.
We called the police and told them what happened, but at the end of the investigation, they said we instigated the situation by making a threat to destroy their property and spitting on their lawn.
I am so scared for the safety of my family now. The police won't help us and the fact that the husband and wife chased us down in their car scares me. What can I do?
