Police Brutality and Caste-Based Atrocity I Faced in Narela, Delhi
I am Rishi Kumar, Head of School (HOS) in Marmurpur, Delhi. Recently, I faced brutality, humiliation, and caste-based atrocity at the hands of Delhi Police officers in Narela.
- This started with a Zomato delivery issue. On 29th September, I had placed two orders: one was already paid online, the second one was rejected. The delivery boy, instead of resolving it properly, called the police.
- Initially, one officer came, checked the situation, understood everything, and left.
- But later, two other officers came, forced their way into my house, dragged me out barefoot, and beat me on the staircase.
- In front of my neighbours, they removed my pants to humiliate me and kept assaulting me on the way to the police station.
- On the way, one officer asked my caste. I told him I belong to the Chamaar community. He then pointed his service gun at me and said “Teri aukaat kya hai?”
- This was not an isolated event. Last year, I had filed a case against a person, and the same officer was handling it. Since the opposition in that case was weak, this was clearly retaliation and intimidation to scare me from pursuing justice further.
This incident has left me traumatized. It is not just police misconduct but a crime under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 and a violation of my fundamental rights under the Constitution.
I have already started preparing complaints to the NCSC, NHRC, Delhi Police Commissioner, and others, but I am also posting here because I want awareness and public attention on this issue.
What I am asking from this community:
- Please guide me on where else I can raise this (legally or publicly).
- If anyone has dealt with the Police Complaints Authority or NCSC process, how effective is it?
- I would appreciate any support, visibility, or advice to ensure the officers are held accountable.
Thank you for reading this. I will share more details/evidence if needed, but for now I wanted to put this out here because silence only protects the guilty.
