So this is the Kotak 811 Super account with Visa plat debit card , and for some context I have Axis Airtel and privilege cc , HDFC UPI RuPay , and IDFC WOW card (and just a day ago added Slice Credit card) , and it is wayy more rewarding than any other bank account or credit card 

TL;DR : this account is for people with spends of ₹10-15k/mo with lots of debit card and small UPI transactions , and is best for young people chasing credit cards and Small banks or platforms for cashbacks and rewards 

Pro’s : 

1) Zero Balance account (but to maintain the “Super” status which gives debit card benefits, you need to deposit atleast ₹5k/mo , if you fail to do so then your super status will expire in a year , and you can maintain the status by depositing ₹5k within that 1 year time frame ) P.s. you don’t have to maintain the balance, only depositing ₹5k 

2) 5% cashback on all spends through the debit card , including fuel ( max ₹500/mo cashback , aka spends of ₹10k/mo , and no cashback on utility payments and wallet loads) 

3) 1% cashback on utility and all bill payments through Kotak 811 app ( max ₹20/payment , and only for 3 payments per month ) 

4) Kotak 811 UPI cashback , for every milestone completed you will get a guaranteed cashback ( 1 milestone = 3 UPI transactions , max ₹8.11 / milestone ) 

5) Dedicated Kotak 811 Customer support , I’ve tried them , they’re perfect, they’re trained on everything related to Kotak 811 account , and after selecting callback option on the app , they usually callback immediately or within 5mins (although sad part they are not 24/7 , for that you still need to use Kotak’s standard toll free no) 

Inconveniences : 

1) Optional metal debit card , only during physical KYC and you cannot choose to upgrade later , and you need to deposit a one time ₹82k into the account (p.s. this card gives extra benefits like zero forex and 20% extra discount for like Zomato dining and stuff , BOGO movie ticket , plus all the benefits of Visa signature, ontop of 5% cashback ) 

2) Activ Money , basically it’s auto sweep-out and sweep-in FD’s without all the friction and charges of traditional bank’s FD sweep-out’s , the problem is that minimum sweep-out happens only for balance above ₹50k and sweep-in happens at ₹25k min , which is wayy too high, for a feature that is part of a “Zero balance” product , that too everything occurs at ₹5k multiples which is just an extra annoyance 

Major Con’s : 

1) Kotak’s ATM’s CDM network (aka ATM cash-deposit machines ) : it’s horrible , I live in Banashankari Bangalore , and the nearest CDM machine is in Jayanagar 4th Block which is 6.5km away, and other 2 are RRnagar 7km and JP nagar 9km away , but recently they did open a new Katriguppe branch which does have CDM and is only 2km away , but it is right on Outer Ring Road , and anyone who has been in Bangalore knows how bad ring road traffic is ( contrary to this , HDFC has 6 ATM’s in 3km radius of my home , and 3 of them have CDM ) 

2) Kotak’s branch : it’s the worst part of Kotak bank , I used to think HDFC has bad RM’s , but in-front of Kotak RM’s they look like angels , Kotak’s branch service is one of the worst , I’ve had terrible experience with them ( 4 times delayed Physical KYC visit , false informations , not responding properly, etc… ) 

Conclusion : 
I have accounts / relation (like credit cards) with HDFC , Axis , IDFC , Slice , and Kotak , Kotak 811 super definitely stands out , and is most definitely an overall very good package , it’s for young people who chase behind credit cards and small banks or platforms for Cashback and rewards , Kotak offers an overall far superior, reliable, and rewarding experience, its best for people with monthly spends of ₹10-₹15k and who do a lot of debit card and small UPI transactions 

Honestly if I didn’t have a lot of spends and international transactions on a monthly basis , I would’ve ditched all the other credit cards and stuff and kept only this one account for everything 

So far in 2 months of using this account , I’ve gotten ₹1,107 cashback and with total spends of ~₹35k on this Kotak 811 account , so approx reward rate of 3% overall
