Developers I have a Question: How can I hide my game until I'm sure it's correct?

Hi devs, I'm prepping my first Steam release, and I wanted to know if there's a way I can upload the game, keep it private, and have my friend buy a copy to test everything goes through okay, that he can install it, etc. etc.

Is there a way I can do that? Or is, by virtue of the fact the game successfully uploaded onto Steam, the game going to work for everybody?
