Character history matters?

This is a really stupid question, but hear me out. I play on and off 1-2 seasons in expansion mainly playing some solo content and pug mythic+.

I have always loved the Tauren race. The look, the fantasy, the "vibe", Mulgore, all of it. My main was always a Tauren (shaman/druid).

I love paladin and for a while, tanking mythic plus with paladin. I did not like the Tauren paladin idea/lore and I have created my Zandalari paladin during BFA and he is my main since.

However since that, it is strange for me playing this game with a non Tauren character...

With housing here, I would love to create a Tauren style house if I can. I am considering race change and also trying Tauren paladin in legion remix.

What I agonize about:

• the Zandalari paladin has some cool achivements like keystone master and even 1 aotc since BFA. No legion content.
• the remix Tauren paladin will probably have all the legion mythic+ and raid content, achivement, quests done, order hall, you name it.

I would feel kind of strange deleting a character I am playing on/off for years, or just changing its race.
