Rubio Oil Over Minwax Stain?

For context my client originally wanted a clear (laquer-based) finish, but is now considering an oil finish after choosing from the dozens of minwax stain samples I had made. I know rubio has a plethora of color options for their finish, and I will go that route if need be, but I figured I'd ask the fine folks of this subreddit first. Anyone done this before? Any reason not to? Happy to provide more specifics if needed, thanks in advance!
