Is kink at risk from MAGA?

For me, BDSM depends on personal liberty and a wider culture that’s set against discrimination and marginalisation.

When liberty is attacked and the State is controlled by scapegoaters, then “weird” minorities are at risk.

Especially when these differences are sexual and happen in private, because its easy to present the minority as a threat.

Free expression has flourished in USA for decades. I doubt the internet would look like it does now if most servers were in some other place.

But free expression is under attack in US. As are trans people - a tiny sexual minority with no mainstream political clout. And reproductive freedoms of women. And MAGA are bruiting h doing gay marriage.

In this increasingly terrible environment, I feel kinksters are at risk in the US - and other countries with similar regimes.

Sure, the state and its thugs won’t come for most kinksters. They’d target the ones they already marginalise: trans folk most obviously, but the whole LGBTQI community. Women too.

I feel this attack is plausible. I don’t know how it comes? MAGA prosecutor enforces a state’s sodomy laws? Fox News doing a special on Reddit perverts? Government claiming a right to know who we are and to expose our intimate affairs?

Is it already happening? Or am I catastrophising?
