Hiroyuki Sanada as Shujinko in a Mortal Kombat live-action movie idea

So I know Hiroyuki Sanada is already loved as Scorpion/Hanzo Hasashi in the Mortal Kombat movie, and honestly he killed that role. But I was thinking about something different…

What if Sanada played Shujinko instead?

Shujinko’s story is all about age, wisdom, and regret after being manipulated by Onaga. He’s an older fighter, but still dangerous, which lines up perfectly with Sanada’s screen presence. I feel like he might be a little too old now to keep playing Scorpion in long-term sequels, but he’d be perfect as Shujinko.

He has the gravitas for the role, the martial arts background, and the emotional weight to pull off Shujinko’s character arc. Plus, it’d be a great way to keep Sanada in the franchise without typecasting him as just Scorpion forever.
