Hey everyone! I wanted to share my journey into the world of DIY CO2. It's been a path of trial, error, and one very memorable explosion! A month ago, my previous 2-bottle system burst due to overpressure (thanks to a clogged ceramic diffuser). Shards, stress... but I didn't give up.

I went back to the drawing board and built a new, improved system using THREE bottles. And it's been working flawlessly! Here's the breakdown:

The Setup:
1.  Bottle 1: Citric acid solution (200g in 400ml of water).
2.  Bottle 2: Saturated baking soda solution (200g in 500ml of water, sediment is fine).
3.  Bottle 3: The reactor vessel with a thick baking soda "sludge" or paste (100g of soda with just enough water to make it wet).
4.  The Plumbing: Bottles 1 and 2 are connected in parallel to Bottle 3. A separate tube equalizes the pressure between Bottles 1 and 2. I use valves to precisely control the feed rate into the reactor.
5.  The Key to Startup: I use a blood pressure bulb connected to a cross-fitting to create the initial pressure in the system. This ensures a perfectly even start!

The Results After 2 Weeks:
-   Pressure is stable and never exceeds 2 atm.
-   The drop checker shows a consistent lime green color.
-   My plants (especially the top shoots) have exploded with new, healthy growth!
-   For balance and energy savings, I turn off the CO2, the heater, and one of my two lights at night.

1.  Safety First: Avoid ceramic diffusers with DIY bottle systems unless you have a high-pressure regulator. They can create deadly pressure for PET bottles.

3.  Measure the Result, Not the Bubbles: I ditched the bubble counter (too much resistance!) and now rely solely on the drop checker. It shows what actually matters - the CO2 concentration in the water.
