Medical Cannabis Eligibility
Good evening all,
I have been suffering with lower back pain for around 8 months which I put down to having a physically demanding job. I only went to the doctors about 3 weeks ago and they prescribed me 28 days worth of Co-codamol and 14 days worth of Naproxen. Went to see an NHS physio who put me on a regime of stretches/exercises. In addition to this they have referred me to have a MRI scan. The pain killers helped some what but they had side effects, mainly stomach related, so cant see myself on them forever.
A colleague at work has talked really positively of medical cannabis as they suffer from back pain too and this has got me interested in trying it to see if it can provide a better form of pain relief. Having looked at various clinics I believe back pain is an eligible condition.
My questions if any one has any advice/experience is:-
- Does physio and the two painkillers pass the criteria for two treatment types?
- Has sufficient time passed since my first doctors visit to say that the treatments haven’t worked? Do I have to wait for the MRI scan?
- If/when I do have a MC consultation, will my medical history on the NHS app be enough or will they need to contact my GP
Currently looking at Mamedica and CB1 as possible clinics.
Thank you in advance for any advice.
