Jeremiah isn’t “better at communication” he shares what he feels to manipulate people

Obviously I know this is something that people have talked about but I’ve just been reflecting on this more through my own lived experiences. A lot of people say that their team Jeremiah because he’s better at communication and he doesn’t like take back what he feels, etc. However, him communicating is usually him manipulating.

For example, when he first confesses his feelings to belly in season one, he’s doing it as a form of manipulation because he knows that her and Conrad were just about to get together, and he’s doing it so that he can cause some doubt in Belly’s mind. He knows that they didn’t actually kiss and he was trying to work hard to make sure that Conrad was going to stay with Nicole and so him confessing his feelings was him trying to manipulate belly into picking him when there was just no other option.

Most other times, Jeremiah communicates the things that he says are extremely problematic . He says stuff like “Conrad’s gonna break your heart” or he says “I’m the one who always stays. Conrad is the one who always leaves” first of all this isn’t even true. I mean, Jeremiah literally ran away on their wedding day. But we all know that.

Whenever Jeremiah communicates in season two, a lot of it is guilt tripping belly into being with him because he knows she feels bad about Susannah’s death and not being there for him. Ex: the tire changing scene.

All of this is basically just to say that I’m fed up with people calling him a better communicator when really he’s just great at subtle manipulation.
