New update is rough for lower end game players
Background: I've played a good amount of PoE 1 (>5000 hours). This is my first league in PoE 2. I play with my wife in couch co-op almost exclusively. My wife is playing PoE for the first time.
The new update has made endgame mapping less fun and more stressful for my wife and I. Previously, the way I dealt with towers was putting a lower tier map with 6 modifiers on, which allowed you to run maps WITHOUT six mods and still have 3 way stones affecting you. This meant that you could have revives. Our personal sweet spot was 5 mods, leaving 1 portal just in case something goes wrong. It feels really bad to have one of us die and the other person has to play the map out alone in order to get access to all 3 tablets. Not having all 3 tablets feels terrible and wasteful, so it feels like we are now forced into running 6 mod maps.
I understand a good amount of people will just say "git gud", which is fair. But I don't understand the point of gatekeeping the third tablet behind 6 mods. It wasn't the way it worked previously. Why change it now? In PoE 1, every map had 6 portals. Plenty of opportunities for mistakes. I'm going from 6 to 1. That feels terrible. PoE is relaxation game. I play it to wind down and just have a bit of fun, keeping things as low stress as possible while still accessing the same level of content most people in end game can access.
I'm also not sure if there are many players who are more casual and laid back, but I believe putting the limitations for tablets on 5 or even 4 mods would not affect anyone except for lower end casual players. Perhaps this change is worth considering. Think of the newbs!
