Every how long should I water snake plant that is in a 10 inch grower pot?

Just got a new snake plant delivered from Home Depot that came in a 10 inch grower black pot, Every how long should I water it to avoid overwatering/under watering it and how much water? I had one in the past 2 years that ended up getting root rot even though I had a saucer under it and was watering it every 21 days until water came from the drainage holes as per advice from a YouTuber that explained how to care for these snake plants but the plant did not flourish and do well at all and I recall tips stated getting browning and whatnot. Any advice? Is it better to underwater and jus take a cup that I use for coffee and water the plant with the same amount of water as opposed to watering until water is coming out from drainage holes into a saucer?
