Are Parental Controls (Screen Time, App Limits etc.) still quite useless/unreliable with iOS26?

I wanted to give it another try, and all I’m getting are problems.

Restrictions: Installing apps is set to “not allowed.” If I try to switch it to “allow,” it doesn’t stick. I have to disable all restrictions completely just to get the App Store to show up.

App Limits: For testing, I set all Social Networking apps to “0 minutes.” That works, except not for WhatsApp. Restarted both devices, reinstalled WhatsApp, set up a limit only for WhatsApp, etc. WhatsApp/iOS completely ignores it.

It just hasn’t gotten any better in years. Why is Googles Family Link so much better?
