Hey Folks! I (18M), currently studying in the 12th standard, want to pursue Sound Engineering, so please give me some advice regarding that field.
I’ve been looking at colleges in India, but it’s hard to figure out which ones are actually worth it and which are just hype. If anyone here has studied or is currently studying sound engineering, please guide me towards it or tell me what you do in college.
Some questions I have:
Which colleges in India are genuinely good for sound engineering (curriculum + facilities + placements)? I looked for some colleges, but I'm really confused whether they're worth it or not.
What are the things they teach in sound engineering? Will they conduct practicals, or will they just teach theory most of the time?
Are there any you’d recommend avoiding/joining?
How important is a college degree compared to just building skills, a portfolio, and industry connections?
Do these programs cover both technical and creative aspects?
What’s the realistic career scope in India after graduating?
How much do internships and networking matter compared to formal education?
Anything else I should know before putting my time, effort, and money into it?
Really appreciate any honest advice or experiences you can share 🙏
