I would rather lose 10 years of my life than live like this

Advice

I 20(F) am a college student. This is my first time posting on Reddit because I just need to vent out my frustration. I had a sudden onset of floaters at the end of August; I went to an ophthalmologist who told me that everything was normal. A week later I noticed more than 10+ floaters in both eyes. Because I have class everyday and all my professors use bright projectors, my floaters were impossible to ignore. Because of the sudden increase, I decided to see a retina specialist. I saw him just now and he told me that I had vitreous syneresis and that this is the first time he has seen such degeneration in such a young patient. He told me that I will likely develop over 100 floaters in the future and that I will have PVD. I asked him if I could do anything to prevent it from happening and he told me that my vitreous is genetic and that nothing could be done about it. I am devastated. Currently crying as I’m typing this. Somehow the doctor’s words made me feel so much worse mentally. I’m so young and everyday I dread just going out because I have to see those disgusting worms everywhere. I was wondering if anyone my age is going through the same thing, I would love advice on how to live like this. Thank you😔
