Coca Cola Boycott
Hello, I'd like the Palestinian community to help me understand the Coca Cola boycott. Why are you boycotting? Are they funding the genocide, or is because the factory is located in East Jerusalem? From my understanding, the Central Beverage Company (Coca Cola Israel) is an independently owned franchise. I guess Coca Cola sells syrup to the franchise & they receive royalties from them. Apparently it is located in East Jerusalem in the Atarot Settlement Industrial zone. I know that the area around Jerusalem was originally supposed to be administered by the UN as part of UN Resolution 181, separate from the land distributions to Israel & Palestine. After conflicts, Israel annexed west Jerusalem, but the UN does not recognize Israel sovereignty in either the west or east Jerusalem, therefore it's unlawful. Is my statement about the UN recognition of Jerusalem correct? So if the UN decided that Jerusalem is supposed to be UN neutral territory then technically the Coca Cola plant is on neutral terrritory, but the problem is that Israel built it illegally. How did Israel gain approval for the Atarot Settlement Industrial zone, and did anyone ask the UN to stop it from happening? How big is the Coca Cola boycott in muslim countries? I still see it being consumed there, and I think I saw an Egyption actor endorsing Coke. So just a little confused. Note: I do know that Israel has built settlements in areas thy aren't supposed to in addition to what I've mentioned. I'm already boycotting US products for other reasons, but trying to understand the Coke issue. I also know that UN Resolution 181 was originally disputed leading to conflict in the region. Thank-you. Serious replies only.
