Am I just being too picky?

I (22F) have been single for almost 2 years now. I broke up with an ex of mine a few years ago for multiple reasons, with one being that he wanted to work at Starbucks for the rest of his life because his high school coworkers (he was 22) were “cool”.

I’m not against someone not going to college or anything. I understand that college isn’t for everyone. But I do think it’s important to have a skill, like a trade or something. Well, I’ve begun talking to a new guy and it’s early on enough that nothing’s official and I could end whatever this is without it being too complicated.

This guy works at a local grocery store. He has an associates degree. We were talking about his job tonight and he mentioned something about why he hadn’t stopped working there yet. I casually asked if he was going to stay there or look for something else, and he said he doesn’t really see a point in leaving.

I don’t know, to me this almost seems like a red flag? But also maybe I’m just being too picky? I mean, at least he has a job? I don’t want to date as a short fling sort of thing, but at the very least a long term relationship.

Am I being too picky in this situation by thinking it may be a red flag that he wants to work in a grocery store for the unforeseeable future?
