Why are consultations so hard…
I feel stuck. I just moved up to junior stylist after 2.8 years. I don’t understand people sometimes and it’s really taking a hard toll on me. I did a haircut today and she said she wanted it to graze her shoulders, so I said a long bob like a lob? And she said yes… So I re-confirmed it was going to be grazing her shoulders. While I’m cutting the length she asked if it was an inch off to which o replied and said yes, but then I took it up more because I remembered in our consultation she asked it to be grazing her shoulders. After I finished cutting the length and the blow dry, and start doing her layers she looks upset so I ask how does the haircut feel, be completely honest and she says; “it’s too short” and I said oh sorry I got misled because you said grazing your shoulders” and she replied “I wanted it more collarbone” and I just said “thank you for letting me know…” and then just also said “I appreciate it, that was a big miscommunication…” also let her know to reach out if she needed an adjustment. But I’m just so frustrated because it makes me feel like it’s my fault when I know it’s not. Like she asked for that length I’m just super confused. Furthermore, this has happened 3 other times recently with clients and I’m struggling here… I don’t know what to do so if anyone has good consultation tips please help me out!
