Crossroads of Ravens

Ok book, but lacking depth?

I’ll start with my main thought: (and I’m going to be blunt and obtuse here in this review)

While experiencing a young Geralt was interesting I didn’t like this story all that much.

Firstly, seeing your hero learn and grow is one thing… watching him get dunked on 24/7 is off putting.

This may be exacerbated by contrast with SoS, but in that tale we saw some of Geralt’s backstory, and him learning lessons and being involved in complex plots involving sorcerers etc.

But here in crossroads, we see somewhat the same thing, except with far less depth, and with our protagonist being outplayed and out maneuvered at damn near every turn.

Disappointed honestly.

Biggest takeaway from this book?

“Wow Geralt got lucky af his first year as a Witcher, this is how a Witcher prodigy conducts themselves? What was he kicked in the head by a mule repeatedly?”

Wow if this so how dumb Geralt was as a young Witcher… yikes.

Any one of the short stories has more heart and meaningful world building than this
