Is it safe to start a new playthrough?

The last time I played this game (modded) Bugthesda ruined it with their (next gen) Update. I was mid-playthrough when it happened, so i was pissed when I found out all the mods were gone. So is now a good time to head back into the commonwealth wasteland? Or is their a update in the near future that could potentially re-ruin everything the same way?
