Heart of Linen - by Stargaze
Imprisoned within my heart
Emotions drowned, now torn apart
Inside my single, aching heart
Illusions subtly forged as art
Men wander through the vales of death
And I—upon what path I tread?
My heart prepares yet other hearts,
Soft linen hearts in silent thread
Red death, pale storm that I endured
Release me now, let me be cured
For in this life that feels half-dead
There is no time, no word unsaid
Monotonous, symphonic song
So fair, destructive all along
Before your face I lose my sense
Like dawn, like star of innocence
In tears, in pain, I fall, undone
Still seeking peace beneath the sun
I hear again that shadowed tune
The song of death, a midnight rune
Moon, why did you cast down your gaze,
Knowing my soul’s in fault and maze?
In this world of contrast and guile
Your simple truth does not beguile
Patient and kind is love once more
Yet in this world so quick to war
Heart—rocky cliff where flowers die,
My soul will never learn to fly
I search for solitude’s embrace
Though emptiness may scar my face
Yet even now, despite its chill
It fills me like a river still
Eye for an eye, tooth torn from tooth
I’ve lost far more than others lose
Incandescent both night and day
And as always, I fall away
The clocks strike out my final hour
The hour, the hour of death’s cold power
Poor mother, praying with despair
That I might never perish there
Explanations make no sense
My death shall be my recompense
And though I go, and though I flee
No friendly counsel rescues me
The synonym of love is to love
I loved, I loved—and died thereof
Love drained my strength, its bitter game
And you… till the end, I loved the same
