Success story of an newbie(Imm) with no ties to Canada securing a job via online application & assimilating into the culture & thriving at work - recently got promoted to a Sr Manager : AMA. Happy to support those struggling

Landed in 2022 & struggled for 7/8 months to get interviews only to be rejected by so called stupid Canadian experience. After 8 months of desperation got a job in my field in a massive Fortune 500 company in 2023 with no ties/reference but only by applying online and going through a painful 5 round process. During the process never short sold myself or didn’t apply in another sector or agreed to work for lesser salary than what I deserved (Not working in IT, tech or any of those high paying companies)

I was ready to become a security guard or an uber driver if I wouldn’t have landed a job in a year as I was getting desperate

Did everything to assimilate and learn about this beautiful country, slogged hard at work, paid a ton in taxes

Just got my promotion recently and made it to 150k base+bonus+esops. Had tears of joy and belief that Canada isn’t broken, yes it’s hard and will test you but you need to earn your place

Faced subtle racism at work, no interview calls, passed for promotions and all that jazz. Today being promoted makes me feel vindicated that true hard work isn’t ignored and the company is ready to take a bet on me even with no references and no local connections just

P.S : in my 8 months I had applied to 112 jobs. Got only 2 calls : 1 said no CA experience and other company hired me. (112 may seem less but I wasn’t one of those just applying randomly to any job like most of the folks outside)
