I can’t calm down until I am alone.
I have anxiety, most centered around a phobia but it has crept into other parts of my life. Anyways a couple years ago I got hit with a horrible bout of anxiety because my body got used to my medication, so it stopped working for my anxiety. It was during Covid, I was 16, and so I was just inside a lot. I think that changed a lot. When I was anxious, which was every day, I was by myself in my room. It’s gotten to the point where if I am anxious I need to tell everyone to leave me alone, sit in my room, and finally I can slowly calm down. I’m struggling with a bad bout of anxiety again because I had to stop my antidepressant. So my uncontrollable panic is back. It goes back and forth but like clock work every single night I begin to feel sick, tense, and shaky. I try to constantly reassure myself, but I am living with my boyfriend now, so it’s reallllly putting a weight on things. Just sitting in bed knowing he will eventually come in and ask if I am ok and lay down next to me keeps me anxious and shaking. Outside of this I don’t have social anxiety. It’s only when I get anxious that suddenly my mind shuts off and I can only focus on containing myself. I have done a lot of work over the years. Pushing myself to go out even when I feel anxiety and want to be alone, forcing myself to be around my bf while im anxious, etc. but still it is just so bad. I used to HAVE to be around someone. It’s taking a toll on my relationship. He is extremely patient and understanding but can’t grasp the fact he can’t help me when I am anxious. To help me he needs to leave me alone. That bothers him a lot and keeps him up at night. but for me it feels like he is always hovering and trying to see what’s wrong. I’m genuinely losing my mind. Any advice?
