Are fewer travellers hosting these days?
I’ve noticed something lately. A lot of travellers on Couchsurfing seem to have tons of references from hosts, but very few (or none) from surfers.
It feels like hosting is becoming less common among people who travel a lot or have been part of the community for years. Many have incredible travel stories and great feedback from hosts around the world, but when it comes to opening their own homes, it’s often missing from their profiles.
I get that life circumstances change, like housing, work, privacy, or just not having the right setup. But I do wonder if the spirit of reciprocity that Couchsurfing was built on is slowly fading.
Has anyone else noticed this?
