I cut off two people to save my relationship and I feel 0 guilt about it.
Hello, The relationship is still under the 1 year mark but it’s been progressing really well. Very healthy. No complains whatsoever. He treats me amazingly. Never ever insulted me, judged my character, told me to cut anyone off, etc..
I had two friends. Let’s call them R and Y. Both have been in bad relationships in the past and are now currently living as ‘single girls’ who just date and talk to whoever and whatever.
When I got into my relationship, it was still very fresh. Lots of judgement came from both of them because they knew my boyfriend’s existence prior dating me. But they never communicated with him 1 to 1.
It started off with passive aggressive comments towards my boyfriend. Like them calling him ugly, short and immature even though he’s none of these. They would call him immature for small things like going out with his friends.
When the relationship began developing. They started encouraging me to cheat on him because if I do it first, he won’t do it. When I’d tell Y he got me flowers, she would say “why don’t you get with an older guy who would get you more than that?” And constantly diminishing my happiness.
It got to a point where they would just be rude to him when they were never give a reason to do so. When me and my bf had a disagreement, where we were nothing but respectful to each other. They still found a problem with it and said I should “watch out because he won’t be the same in 2 months.” Then 2 months go by, he’s still the same respectful person during arguments and they say “wait another 2 months”. They also gave him horrible nicknames.
They could never accept the fact that nothing is wrong with my relationship. Would just make fun of him for being jobless, then say how he’s like a dog on a leash with me.
My boyfriend found these all out and told me that this is hurtful to him. I decided to cut them off for personal reasons. I told both of them that their influence and words are hurtful and I don’t see these friendships continue.
I don’t feel bad about it. When I did it, i felt like a weight got off my shoulders. I feel better than ever and I feel like it helps me to focus on my relationship better cause I love him dearly. I hope this allows them to realise that maybe they shouldn’t be that type of friend and actually be happy for others for once.
