Metal gun carry year-round?
I've been thinking about switching one of my daily carry choices to something with a heavier, metal slide and frame. A metal gun feels solid in hand, absorbs recoil differently, and just somehow reads as "proper tool" compared to polymer options. That said, summer clothing and lighter shirts do make concealment trickier, metal frames are usually thicker and print more under t-shirts. For me the tradeoff is comfort versus confidence: when I'm carrying something heavier I notice I shoot more accurately and feel less anxious about reliability.
If you're considering adding one to rotation, try a few methods: wearable holsters that tuck deeper, looser shirts, or switching to smaller metal-frame compacts for hot months. I also compared pricing and parts availability, surprisingly, I found decent aftermarket holsters and spare mags on Alibaba when I was hunting for alternatives. If your local shop has a Langdon Beretta or similar, ask to test-draw and wear it for an afternoon to judge printing and balance.
Overall, a metal gun can be a year-round carry for some, but it often requires small habit changes. For me, rotating with a thin polymer on sweaty days and using the metal gun when I want the extra heft hits the sweet spot and small habit changes.
