Back to back cycle? Recovery from first cycle not “going as fast as RE would have expected”

I went in two days ago for an ultrasound and next-cycle planning on day 7 post retrieval. I’d been having some pain and a low-grade temp (around 99.3°F) about a week after retrieval and was on antibiotics. I’m expecting my period around day 10–12, and both the pain and temp have gone down since.

My doctor said follicles have refilled with fluid and that I’m healing a bit slower than he’d hoped, so he’ll recheck once my period starts. We’re planning to move forward with another antagonist, natural-start cycle.

He mentioned I could either take birth control (I’m guessing this would be luteal phase start then) or wait a month to start. Has this happened to anyone else? Would you recommend moving forward if he is okay with it or giving the body a month off?

For what it’s worth, mentally I want to go forward but I don’t want to push to go forward if that will make outcomes worse.
