In 2021, I'd bought a raw wood guitar body and neck, along with all the needed parts, to put together my own guitar!

I knew right away I would name it "Blue Danube." It's my favourite river in the world and it honours my Serbian heritage and culture.

This guitar was supposed to be a creative project to keep me motivated during some of the darkest times of my life (and certainly everyone else's' around the world) as well as to really challenge myself by trying something new. I figured I'd been playing, collecting, and adoring guitar long enough to attempt assembling my own.

However, life happened and this project just sat in my case for years...until today!

With this beautifully warm weather, and driven by the need to once again keep myself motivated through some of the darkest times of my life, I've finally started building my DIY guitar.

I really enjoyed working with the wood, from sanding to sealing it. I also liked testing out where the different chrome hardware would all fit and envisioning how striking the contrast will be when it's all painted.

Next steps for Blue Danube are:

* Sanding it again to smooth any rough spots after the sealer completely dries
* Applying the base coat of blue paint
* Mapping out exactly where the paint designs should go

Can't wait to make more progress!
