Horcrux's don't just take a life and put the killer soul fragment in there, it also seals the soul of the victim.

Prompt

So with this prompts, there is no Moaning Myrtle, just an always out of order bathroom with no working plumbing.

‐----------

Darkness, that was all Myrtle knew. How long had she been trapped in the dark, nothing but the insane hissing of the boy who killed her. Tom Riddle, handsome, kind, charismatic. She had a crush on him yes, but why would he want ugly, spotty Myrtle as Hornby liked to say. It had been when they found her diary and read it aloud outside charms that broke her. Running away to the out of order bathroom that she alway retreated do, with the pipes that hissed and gurgled.

How she had cried in the cubicle, how she had raged. How dare they? That was her private thoughts, about Tom, about how she felt, about how she was going from a girl to a woman and the feelings, mental and physical were. They all laughed at her, pulled disgusted faces as her darkest secrets came to life. Then she heard it, the door. A sibilant hissing sound that made her skin crawl. She peeked to see it and saw him. Tom.

Opening the door she stepped out, planning on asking why he was here. Part of her, the little girl who still believed in knights in shining armour hoped he had come for her, to comfort her after this morning's humiliation. Then the sinks shifted. He turned towards her smiling.

"I suppose you will have to do." His eyes were cold and his voice like ice, not the usual warm pitch he used through his classes and speeches as prefect defending the bullied, but high pitched and in a way that made her brain scream to run.

"Tom? What are you doing here? This is a girls bathroom?" Her voice quivered, fear shaking her very soul.

"You will see Myrtle." He turned to the hole and hissed again and the scraping grew louder. Her brain screamed to run that something was coming, but her body betrayed her. She stood frozen watching as a large olive coloured head rose from the hole and a pair of bright yellow eyes looked into hers.

The next thing Myrtle knew was pain like she'd never felt before. She screamed but there wasn't a sound. Looking around she was shocked to see her own body on the floor lifeless and Tom standing over her looking down at a circle drawn in blood, a diary by her feet. Stuck she watched him chant, long and low in a deep trobbing rhythm she felt in her very soul. Then she felt a pull, towards the diary and heard Tom scream. Nothingness. Then a void, not nothing but not something, but she was not alone. She couldn't see it in the darkness but she could feel it. Something dark, cold and slimy. It grasped at her and she could hear it speak in that horrible high pitched voice.

She let herself fade, maybe she would die again and find out what happened to a soul that died twice. She was there in darkness no time, no light, just Tom for company. Then a crack and light filled the space. She could see a window above, she moved for it grasping at the light at hope. Then the hands grabbed at her, long fingered and pale. Looking back she saw him, Tom as handsome as ever but there was a madness in his eyes and it frightened. Tom grabbed her hair and face and pulled himself up to the window.

His voiced spilled the space, no longer high pitched and grating. His old charming lilt. "Hello, my name is Tom Riddle, how did you come across my diary?"

Then a quill scratched at the page, the words filling the space. "Hello Tom, my name is Ginny Weasley and I found it in my transfiguration text book. It was second hand, maybe someone had left it there by mistake."

Smiling Tom kept talking, charming her. Myrtle knew him now, he was cold and cruel evil to the core. His face a normal easy smile gone, replaced by the smile of a mad man. She shrunk back fearing what he might do. She then fell into another timeless wait, watching snippets when she gain skme semblence of control. She watched as Tom began to take control, Ginny painting on the walls and killing Hagrid's roosters. When Tom was gone, controlling her, she would rave and scream, words is crazy writing splattering across the page, ink splashes for her rage. Then he would come back and she would flee her rage replaced with fear.

One evening, she felt Tom's rage. Something had changed. He wasn't up at the space where the light came, he was deeper than she had ever gone. His voice cold ajd harsh promising pain and death to Ginny for throwing him away. Lost in his rage he didn't see the light come again. The quill scratching at the page.

"Hello, my name is Harry Potter."

From there Myrtle helps Harry find out about the bathroom and basilisk in a similar way to the books. Rather than showing Hagrid's expulsion, she told him to talk to him about her death. Then Ginny find it again, gets forced into the chamber Lockheart does the usual and Harry kills the diary. When he does and the black tar finishes leaking from it and apparition Tom dies Myrtle comes out of the book, thanks him. And very clearly has a new crush. Says she will be waiting for him and then dissappear finally moving On.

Cue the rest of the series in a similar vein to the main books just adding this new horror to Horcrux lore. Maybe where his soul is more fragmented and weak, the other souls have more control and help with their destruction idk just a thought about this aspect of Harry Potter.
