Planning my 2025 Intel/RTX 5070 build – feedback on cooling, noise, and future upgrades?
Hi everyone,
Here’s my planned build on PCPartPicker for compatibility checks: https://fr.pcpartpicker.com/list/LDJkpK
You can also view/share the build directly on LDLC: https://www.ldlc.com/s/33E8JH7
I’m based in France and I’m buying all components from LDLC France because they will handle the assembly. I’ll do the BIOS flashing and Windows 11 installation myself.
Planned build (LDLC prices 2025):
- CPU: Intel Core i5-14600K (3.5 GHz / 5.3 GHz) – 229,95€
- GPU: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5070 WINDFORCE OC SFF 12G – 629,95€
- Motherboard: Gigabyte Z790 D AX – 199,95€
- CPU Cooler: Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro 360 A-RGB (Black) – 139,95€
- RAM: Kingston FURY Beast RGB 32 GB (2x16 GB) DDR5 6000 MHz CL30 – 178,95€
- SSD (OS/Software): Corsair Force MP600 GS 500 GB – 67,95€
- SSD (Games): Samsung SSD 990 PRO M.2 PCIe NVMe 2 TB – 174,95€
- Power Supply: Corsair RM850e (2025) – 134,95€
- Case: Phanteks XT PRO ULTRA (Black) – 104,95€
- Assembly by LDLC (no OS): 79,94€
Total: 1 941,49€
Usage and rationale:
- Usage: “console-like” → no overclocking, no heavy multitasking, one game at a time, but long gaming sessions.
- CPU choice: the i5-14600K provides excellent gaming performance at a much lower cost than a i7-14700K or a 265K. I plan to upgrade CPU, GPU, and add more RAM in a few years.
- Intel is preferred for compatibility with emulators and certain software.
Notes:
- I only have one PCPartPicker disclaimer: “Some physical constraints are not checked, such as RAM clearance with CPU Coolers”. I’m confident the 360mm AIO will fit without issues.
- Regarding cooling and noise: the 360mm AIO should provide very good cooling with low fan speeds. Adding more case fans doesn’t automatically make things quieter—fans only run slower if airflow is optimized and heat is well distributed. The Phanteks XT PRO ULTRA has good airflow potential, so I expect low noise even in long gaming sessions.
Questions:
- Does this build make sense and work well together?
- Will it handle long gaming sessions reliably in terms of temperatures and noise?
- Are any components known for issues or bad reputations?
- Is there anything significantly better for a similar or lower price?
Thanks a lot for your input!
