B58 generational differences with tune

Looking to get an M40i in the next couple weeks, and I'm wondering - would the B58 in the pre-2020 X3 produce the same results with a stage 1 tune as a post-2020 engine? Or is there a 'stage 0' tune that brings it in line with the hp produced by the later version? Do they have the same max potential with tunes?
