New player guidance and perhaps theory-crafting | Ground combat

Discussion

Greetings CMDRs,

I'd like to ask for a bit of help regarding the game. I picked it up during the steam sale and been enjoying it immensely. Got my keybinds setup how I like them, read through quite a number of guides, got me my trusty EDCopilot and getting familiar with the whole game itself. I am also not a big risk taker (the rebuy system, while a good punishment concept, discourages it a bit in my opinion - the risk taking and the absolute memery that can come from such decisions), so that's also a reason why I'm here, trying to ask for help.

Didn't find much about this specific scenario: Could someone tell me a few tips about ground combat starting? Is it even feasible to think about GCZs with tier 1 weapons and armor. I know it is one of the more profitable "profession" and I also enjoy it (been enjoying FPSs since I was little). I am talking about literally leaving the starter system and just beeline a GCZ and go full ham no salad on it. Perhaps get away quickly if things get way too dicey (or literally die and respawn next to a combat bond admin and cash in even on loss). In theory it could be good, especially if the system (and the layout too) is decent, but these are things I'm not worrying about for now.

I know half the fun is finding things out for ourselves, but I like to do extensive research on stuff especially when it comes to irreversible actions (leaving the starting zone). I know about R2Rs, exobiology and other methods, but I'm extremely curious about this one. Did any of you have experience in this specific scenario or give me a few pointers, words of caution?

Thank you so much in advance for any help and reading this wall of text. o7

PS: few points I found so far and additional info:

  • T3 stuff can be bought in stations to help starting out with this process, but I'm nowhere near that amount of money (15-20m x3 for gear + 2 weapons)
  • Win or loss does not matter, main $ comes from tagged kills
  • SRV could help, but kiting made previous 1v11s feasible so I'm not overly worried about manually flying to the zone and leaving my ship far away or just taking the shuttle there (repair mission additional waves, "Things just got out of hand" as Dr Strange would say)
  • Flying standard Cobra MKV, fuel scoop, 15+ ly jump, closest GCZ on news yesterday was 7-8 ly
  • Running around with kinetic AR, energy pistol
