Westley year 2

So I didn’t know you could date people and didn’t romance anyone except accidentally giva. now i realize i can romance westley but Im already in year 2 and we can’t get past being new acquaintances. I’m giving him gifts and going to talk to him everyday but the heart isn’t moving up. should i just restart the whole game?
