Home
Not a Home, But a Haven
They say home is a person- a heartbeat, a familiar voice, the warmth of arms that hold you when the world turns cold.
But people are not homes. They are the shade on a burning afternoon, a fleeting shelter in a passing storm. They are the hands that hold you steady until they, too, must let go.
Because people change. They grow, they unravel, they become strangers with faces you once knew by heart. And love—love stays, but not always in the way you expect. It lingers in the spaces between years, woven into the fabric of who you were when you stood beside them.
So no, home is not a person. Home is the bed you return to, your notebook filled with whispered confessions, the pillow that has learned the taste of your tears. Home is the silence that knows your name, the echoes of a past only you remember.
And perhaps, years from now, two souls who once let go will find their way back, not as the people they were, but as the strangers they have become— learning, unlearning, falling once more.
Because people are not homes. But they are moments, they are memories, they are the proof that you were here, that you loved, that you lived.
