Episode 108: I Wanna Be Your Man
It has confounded me all along that the host references influential blues artists and songs several times and yet repeatedly goes on a rant about how rock and roll absolutely was NOT influenced by the blues.
This episode is the pinnacle of that strange obsession. He begins the story about the London music scene that produced The Rolling Stones ( named after a blues song) with a vehement rant against the idea that rock and roll grew out of blues. Then spends the entire episode outlining in detail how Muddy Waters and Chicago Blues were elemental in the bridge from jazz and skiffle to R&B and rock and roll.
His contradictory attitudes about the blues influence is just baffling.
Then again, this episode is in the middle of the part of the podcast where he begins his gradual swerve into losing his focus and wandering more and more into expressing his opinions on historical and current events.
