AITAH for wanting to give birth at 38 weeks?

I(39F) am pregnant and due next month. My first and second trimester had been great. But since I’ve entered third trimester, I’ve been experiencing a lot of pain, and I’ve got carpal tunnel syndrome from the pregnancy as well. Every morning, I will wake up with back pain, hip pain, swollen legs and hands, my hands are so painful that I can’t even make a fist.

Little bit of bg here, I’m a nurse so I kinda know what pregnancy is about and what to expect.

I know first time mom are more likely to needing medical induction. I know it’s gonna be super painful and I don’t wanna experience that. I’ve been saying I want/I hope the baby will come out at 38 weeks because of the pain I’ve experiencing, to avoid medical induction, and my mom is coming from overseas to help me postpartum for three months, and I want to make every week counts. But I also understand it’s not up to me, if my baby wanna wait til 40 weeks or longer, I have no control.

But still, I wanna make sure my body is ready when the time comes. So I’ve started to eating dates, doing perineal massage, and I’ve book acupuncture session starting from 36 weeks, etc.

First, my partner was angry at me for booking acupuncture session when I told him two nights ago, he believed I was trying to force to baby to come out early. He has a tendency to get upset over something doesn’t sound right to him even when he doesn’t have the full understanding about them. I had to explain to him and asked him to do some research for him to understand that acupuncture is not gonna force me into labour.

Tonight, I mentioned about wanting to give birth at 38 weeks again. And he got upset immediately again, accusing me for forcing the baby to come out early, doing acupuncture and other things to induce the labour at 38 weeks. I honestly don’t think there is anything I could do to make sure I give birth at 38 weeks except medical induction which I’ve been trying my best to avoid. We both love the baby so much and no way I would do anything to try to harm my body or the baby. I’ve tried to explain to him that I have no control over when the baby is coming out, and the baby is considered full term at 37 weeks, so it’s completely fine if the baby is coming at 38 weeks. He wouldn’t listen and just turned away and said ‘it’s fine, your body your choice. I just can’t have an opinion about this.’

To me, giving birth at 38 weeks is just a wish, I don’t understand why do I need his opinion over this? It’s just like me saying I hope tomorrow is a good day, and he starts saying how I shouldn’t want tomorrow to be a good day.

He turned away and stopped talking to me even if I tried to explain to him. Plus what happened before about the acupuncture and some other things when he gave me similar response, I just decided I’ve had enough of his attitude. I was really upset and felt so defeated. I started crying, then he said I was throwing a tantrum and should talk to him like a human being. He also said his parental leave starts at 40 weeks, if the baby coming at 38 weeks, he’ll have to take extra sick leaves and he doesn’t want that. I found it ridiculous when all he cares about was his sick leaves. We argument and I cried a lot. When I was crying, he would not try to comfort, he would just sit there and watch me cry, or criticise me for throwing a tantrum and harming to baby. Not once he tried to validate my feelings. He also kept changing to subject, like counting to things that he’s done for me during the pregnancy (including putting two dirty plates into the dishwasher) which had nothing to do with our conversation tonight.

I just don’t know how to communicate with him anymore. AITAH for wanting to give birth at 38 weeks? Which means I was upset over nothing and overreacting?
