How to choose a path and not be overwhelmed?

Advice/Career

Hello, I'm an undergraduate in the US and I took a break from my school to better reassess my goals. I've decided I wanted to be professionally trained in the fields of psychology, neuroscience, etc. However, I am unsure what specific route to take when there are so many options.

My specific goal in those fields is to be able to assist in the development and enactment of such things like research, outreach services, care plans for patients, and volunteer work, along with progressing my overall knowledge in the fields to an expert level too, but with so many options like enrolling in a program for clinical, community, and personality psychology or behavioral neuroscience, or enrolling as a volunteer of sorts, I am very lost; especially when I am unsure of how to compare one option over the other in terms of efficacy in my goal, or understanding how much an option contributes to my goal, or if me focusing on one option and it's paths like enrolling as a volunteer in a clinic to do things like study or conduct and assist in patient services will neglect the progress and efficacy of my actions in another option, like studying in a specific program in school. And some programs/options etc may have the same name or do the same thing, which is confusing to me, along with the fact that I don't know how far I should research/don't know when I should limit my research.

I apologize if I'm not coherent, I am just confused.
