First time buyer

Considering buying my uncles 2000 FLSTS Heritage Springer w/ 21000 miles; excellent condition; asking $9500. Never have owned a motorcycle but have ridden several throughout my life. Uncle is 80, I’m 60. Wanna keep it in the family. Live in Southern California with great year round riding weather. Any advice as to making the purchase or not?
