Speed limits in most places have been the same since I can remember (1980s). They are outdated and should be significantly increased.

Possibly Popular

Back in the 80s I was just a kid but I remember the highways having speed limits of up to 120km/h.

Now we are 4 decades past that, the card are immensely more advanced: better visibility, better tyres, better brakes, ABS, traction control, collision detection, automatic emergency braking, airbags, crumpling bodies.

How come the speed limit stays the same? I dare to say that 120km/h in 1985 in those cars was more dangerous than 180km/h today.

And I’ve seen some places even lower the limit over the years. People that are so paranoid about it might as well give up using the highways altogether.
