Question regarding the influence of MiA with the My Time at Sandrock video games.
Sorry if this is a naive question as I am unfamiliar with anime, but my question is in regards to the Chinese video game series My Time at Sandrock (there are other titles like My Time at Portia, etc.). Not sure how popular these games are or if you guys have even heard of them, but they involve very similar themes and tropes as MiA, such as a time somewhere off in the future, but the setting still resembles an idyllic version of old fashion village life, where the town is populated by ‘builders’ and ‘explorers’ who venture out into the wastelands and underground, trying to recover relics from since lost civilizations with advanced technology, and where they encounter strange creatures and other phenomena. It’s a mix of old fashion art direction (such as the houses and clothing) with some sprinkles of futuristic devices. There’s an air of mystery towards the past, and also a sense of coziness.
So for me, the influence of MiA seems obvious, but what do I know? So my question is, are the games directly influenced by MiA, or are the aforementioned tropes that I mentioned in the previous paragraph very common in anime and Asian media? Like is this an actual time of genre that I’ve not heard of?
