Toronto hiring process + OPPAT vs part-time suburban offer
Hey everyone, I’ve been going through the Toronto hiring process and passed everything, but I couldn’t make the October intake because I failed the OPPAT as I exceeded the time limit, I had to wait six weeks before I could retake it, and that wait is finally over but I’m not sure if the Toronto hiring process is still open for November. I’ve emailed management, but haven’t gotten any replies.
In the meantime, I got a part-time offer from a suburban service. They said their part-timers usually get good hours, so it might be pretty steady work. I’m torn — should I take the part-time job, or pay to redo the OPPAT for Toronto even though I’m not sure if they’re still hiring? I really want to work for Toronto, but I also don’t want to spend money I don’t have on the test if the intake’s already closed.
Any advice from people who’ve been through this or have insight into how flexible Toronto’s hiring timelines are?
