Overwhelmed by schedules

Sleep

Our baby is 6 weeks old and I keep seeing content about Moms on Call and Taking Cara Babies schedules for 6 week olds, where it has you regulating their nap times more, adhering to specific wake windows and feed times. So far we’ve just been responding to baby’s cues which sometimes means letting him nap for 2-3 hours during the day if he wants, or feeding every 2 hours if he’s rooting etc.

Are people actually doing this (and if so does it work?)? It’s hard for me to fathom not feeding on demand right now or forcing him to wake up when he’s peacefully sleeping but it seems like these schedules are working for people. It makes me worry I’m doing him a disservice by not having a schedule.

So I guess I’m just wondering what people’s thoughts are on “schedules” for babies this young and if I’m doing the right thing.
