Running the Catalina Island Marathon in March- Strategies?

Training plans

I ran the Chicago marathon 8 years ago or so slowly. Had kids and fell out of shape. This year I went from couch to half marathon and ran the half in 2h 32m. I'm using Runna and started targeting the Catalina Marathon as my A race. I've got roughly 5 months to go and it's got right around 4k elevation change.

For those who might've ran this course any specific tips? For those who've trained up to hilly marathons any more general tips besides following my training plan with hill practice and strength training? I love just outside of Chicago which makes practicing on real hills more of a PItA. I have a treadmill that also can simulate downhill but only with a 2% grade.

My first goal is finishing before 8 hours. I don't want to have to take the ride back if I can help it. Any time wins I get beyond that are gravy.

I'm 43 male and run about 4 times a week. Thanks!
