I have a serious, in good faith question

Why do people still want to emigrate to the US? What pushes people to leave their own country to come to another country that actively rejects them and makes their lives hell and even actively publicizes their torment? I get it, people from countries like Ecuador and Mexico flee their country because it's ridden with crime and narco-trafficking gangs, and people from China move to the US escape debts, unemployment or else, but what compels people, especially from relatively well-off nations like Vietnam or China or even western european countries to still move to America, in increasing numbers even. Last I checked, tens to hundreds of thousands are willing to take the most dangerous routes in the world to come to a country that actively hunts them down, hates them, exploits them and all that.

Look, maybe a few decades ago that would've been more logical: America was objectively a good place where an enterprising immigrant, through sweat, blood and toil, could create a future for his children (the so called American Dream), but now? It's less than ever apparent why would anyone choose to go to America and at times pay human traffickers to cross the border with the risk of being apprehended by federal goons and thrown into a fucking concentration camp.

Ok I am aware that with Trump spiking the cost of H-1B visas more chinese people are either going back to China or choosing Europe, but last I checked many still prefer to migrate to the US (some 37 thousands in 2023 I believe?), and that's not taking into account all the other nationalities.

Is this post stupid? Am I asking dumb obvious questions? I can't wrap my head around why the US is still such a preferred destination for hundreds of thousands of people. And in no way I want to ridicule or blame those desperate enough to want to cross the border, I just want to know... why? My privileged white ass can't answer that.
