I'm a med student, lost and i need your help.
I am a third-year medical student. This year, I submitted a transfer request to the Faculty of Medicine in Oran.
My application meets all the required conditions (residence, academic results, certificate of good conduct, etc.), yet my request was rejected. It is therefore clear that without intervention or connections, the transfer is impossible.
The studying conditions in my hometown -in which we only have an annex of medicine not a faculty- are extremely difficult, even unbearable.
The third year is a crucial stage in the medical program and it has such a big impact on my education on the long run.
We don’t have a university hospital (CHU). The only public hospital (EPH) we have lacks services, resources, and staff. The cardiology department has been without specialists for several months. We can’t even properly care for patients, let alone train students.
I did an internship this summer, and I saw people die while we couldn’t do anything except perform a simple "massage cardiaque". I absolutely don’t want to become that kind of doctor.
We can make up for the theoretical side by studying on our own at home, but when it comes to practical training, how can we do that without specialists? Most cases are already transferred to other cities..you can only imagine.
I tried asking the help of a relative but he doesn't seem to give much of shit. I've got two friends that transferred easily thanks to their families's connections although my academic results are way better than their's.
I'm very frustrated and demotivated i'm finding myself unable to do anything. And i feel like I've got nobody by my side. i don't think i can do another year here. this situation weighs heavily on me I'm devastated and I really need help or advice from those who have been through a similar situation.
Thank you in advance to anyone who can guide or support me in this process.
