Anyone ever change careers to something totally unexpected? How did it go for you?
Hey guys 👋🏽
So I’m 25 and I’m honestly going through one of the biggest changes in my life right now. I studied Communication Science and Sociology, and I’ve always seen myself as a media or social media person — you know, creative stuff….
But now, I’ve started this learnership that placed me in a completely different field. It’s practical, involves food (which I never thought I’d do 😅), and honestly, I don’t know much about it. I’ve been watching videos and reading up on things, but it really feels like something I’ll only understand by doing it.
It’s so out of my comfort zone because I’ve never been that person who loves cooking or kitchen work, but at the same time, I feel like this might be something God wants me to experience. Like maybe it’s not about the job itself, but about what I’m going to learn through it discipline, patience, teamwork, humility… all that.
Still, I won’t lie, I’m nervous. Tomorrow I start at the place I’ve been assigned to, and I’ll have a mentor there. I just want to show up, be confident, and learn. It’s scary starting something you literally know nothing about.
So I wanted to ask…Has anyone here ever changed careers or started something totally different from what they studied or planned for?
