I'm new to Boston (I'm in the South End) and am looking for NONLUXURY shops that have fun trinkets/local artists/gifts? I'm specifically looking for funky jewelry and more fun things :) Also, are there any fun seasonal local markets with things like that around here?

I'm coming from Tucson, where the local art scene was really expansive, so finding shops like that was easy. I love supporting local artists/sellers. Whenever I look up stores near me (I'm near Chinatown in the Southend), it just brings up luxury stores or things that are several hundred dollars, and I just can't afford that, as I am a poor grad student.
