Am I the only person who liked Brightburn
Just watched it last night after my brother recommended it to me and had a blast. I try not to read reviews or watch trailers before I see a movie because both reveal far too much these days so I had no idea what to expect beyond the basic concept. I thought it was a fun spin on a familiar trope, had great gore (the eyeball scene was especially good), and the end credits song choice had me in stitches.
I was genuinely surprised to see so many people hadn’t liked it. I’m not sure what other people expected but it gave me exactly what I was looking for and then some. I have serious superhero movie fatigue and always complain about Superman being my least favorite because quite frankly I find him very boring lol but in this context it really worked for me. Even the sort of corny dialogue with the mom felt like it was mimicking a lot of what I can’t stand about some of the films in that genre. This movie was clearly aware of what it was and didn’t take itself too seriously, which I enjoyed.
It wasn’t perfect, the pacing was a bit off in some places and it could have used another 10-15 minutes of runtime to let things marinate more, but imo the flaws were tolerable compared to how much I enjoyed it overall.
