Thinking about moving to a New England state from Hawaii. Question on Race.

My fiancée and I (both 28) both are born and raised in Hawaii. She’s half Mexican with a mix of Hawaiian, Japanese, Irish. I’m half Spanish with also a mix of Hawaiian, Japanese, Irish. We’re definitely not brown like a lot of Hawaiians but we’re not super white either. We’re sort of tanned. We’re both brought up in fairly conservative families attending either private schools (myself) or homeschool (fiancée) and we both attended university with a couple degrees. We’re actually visiting this week to a few New England states. Just curious how New Englanders felt about slightly colored (tanned) people? We are both odd in the sense that we never exactly fit in with the locals in Hawaii due to a more conservative and more educational upbringing but we are also tanned enough for whites to know we aren’t pure European. Just curious for people’s opinions on the matter.
